Fall workshops


Rivercity Players and Shoreline Musical Theatre Society are hosting three workshops in the fall of 2019. We are offering member/non-members the opportunity to enhance their skills. To register please email bev_in_cr@live.ca. If you have any questions please call Bev at 250-923-7510. Workshops will be held at Rivercity Stage. Cost for each workshop is $15.00 for members, $20.00 for non-members.

September 15-Production workshop: Lynne Macara, facilitator. 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

September 28-Stage Managers workshop: Lynne Macara, facilitator. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

November 9-Costume coordinator, Design and Construction: Heather Gordon Murphy, facilitator. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Heather Gordon Murphy:

Heather is an experienced dance and movement artist and has been teaching dance for over 35 years. Having grown up in Campbell River, she has contributed her talents both on stage and off to many musicals and reviews, including Shoreline Musical Theatre Society, Rivercity Players and the Tidemark’s Youth Theatre Program. Heather is a renowned choreographer. Her most recent international job was as assistant choreographer for the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremonies in Azerbaijan presented by Cirque du Soleil. Heather was also assistant choreographer for the 2010 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. She has worked with many talented actors, singers, performers and athletes over the years. Heather’s infectious enthusiasm motivates those around her to excel. She enjoys helping performance artists find new and innovative ways to explore their creativity. Heather is Artistic Director and Co-Owner of RainCoast Creative Performing Arts Studio. Heather is also an associate teacher at Flow Yoga School.

Heather is very involved and connected to many groups in Campbell River. She is on the board of both the CR Arts Council and Rivercity Players Society. She is co-chair of the CR Downtown Business Association and sits on the CR Tourism Advisory Board. She has created and coordinated many performances including Crow Theatre, Theatre in Spirit Square, A CR Story…Canada 150, Back Alley play reading series, Plenty… an artistic banquet, River City Arts Festival, CR Immigrant Welcome Centre 25th Anniversary event, CR Museum performances and more.

Heather has a passion for design. She has designed and created clothing, costuming and wearable art for many productions. She has twice won best costumes at the Theatre B.C. North Island Zone Festival.

Lynne Macara:

Lynne loves to work backstage! Her first time as stage manager was in high school, and since then she has fulfilled this role for a variety of organizations including Rivercity Players, Tidemark Theatre and Young Theatre. She has also produced/co produced a number of local productions. Over the years, she has taken a variety of courses and workshops and worked with several professional directors—she is happy to share what she has learned with you!

Ever watched Whose Line Is It Anyways and thought it looked fun? Ever considered you'd like to try it? Well, why wait? We have improv workshop classes starting up on Sept 21st and we want you there! Gerry McAteer is an award winning improv champion and has worked extensively all over North America as a comedian, improv pro and teacher and we are so lucky to have him right here in Campbell River to teach us all the improv tricks! If you are interested in this 6 week workshop class from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays starting Sept 21 2019 then email glen@glenclark.ca Workshop series is $150 for the 6 weeks.
