Rivercity Players Update

August 18, 2020 DIGITAL AGM:  SEPTEMBER 23, 2020   7:00 pm This notice is to update our volunteers and members of events at Rivercity Stage. Although we are unable to use our wonderful space for productions, the Board is ensuring that repairs are being done and that bills are being paid.  The building is now being painted with a sealant.  Due to the damage to the mural wall, a contractor suggested the sealant be used to fill the gaps. A shame to lose the mural, but it couldn't be avoided. The work is being done this month as we can still get into the fenced yard next to us.  Our new neighbour will be building on the lot and this was our chance to fix the wall and give all the building a fresh coat of paint. A security system was installed this year.  We have had a lot of discussion about how to open our Stage and what operations would look like in 2021.  It is felt at this time that the liability is just too high in these uncertain times of the pandemic.  We are in constant contact with members of Theatre BC and sharing information with our counterparts.  We are looking at workshops, one act plays with no sets, play reading, etc.  Theatre BC is planning on hosting Mainstage in July of 2021 and would like us to host the North Island Zone festival.  Our AGM will be held on September 23’rd.  The meeting will be done using Zoom, to protect our membership.  More information will be sent out closer to the date, with documentation.  Memberships are due.  Cheques can be sent to our post office box and we will mail receipts. Membership forms are on our website.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Board, please email president@riverplayers.ca . or phone 250-202-1273.   Our theatre of the future will look quite different than the past, due to the government rules and regulations around social distancing.  We will need new and fresh ideas to ensure that our theatre can remain vibrant and successful.   Please let us know of the skills you have that will enable use to change and adapt to the new “normal”.   Thinking of you all Rivercity Players Board

Rivercity Players Society is a non-profit society dedicated to community theatre.  Please be assured that the health and safety of our members and our patrons are very important to us.  Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, our 2020 season has been deferred to at least January of 2021.  Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate through the situation that is our new normal.

We are in contact with Theatre BC to get direction and guidance for performances and festivals.  In the meantime, our wonderful facility is being well cared for and we are meeting to plan next steps for upgrading the outside of the building and opening our doors.

Be safe, RCP board

Hello. As Covid-19 has turned the world upside down with every day life, we are unable to hold any events at our theatre. We are monitoring things every day and are anxious to get back to normal like everyone else. Once things have settled, we will look at what's next for productions and such. We thank everyone for their support as always of Rivercity Players Theatre. We look forward to seeing you in the near future. The NI Zone festival has been canceled, as well as our production of present laughter.
